Meet Barbara Bagwell

Barbara Bagwell

An author, artist, and storyteller whose work reflects faith, creativity, and perseverance.

Meet Barbara Bagwell

I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with my two feline companions. I remain actively engaged in World Bible School, which is my main passion, and attend services at the Pikes Peak church of Christ. During my leisure time, I enjoy expressing my creativity through painting. I hold the markers in my teeth. I have created numerous original paintings as well as designs in coloring books. I have a severe disability, which leaves me with almost no use of my hands and arms. However, I have learned to do many things despite this fact. I write with a pen in my teeth, type with a mouthstick, and operate a computer mouse with my foot.

I have a deep and strong faith, which I attribute my positive outlook on life greatly to, along with a loving, supportive family. After my college graduation, a teacher friend encouraged me to write my story, saying it was a “good and encouraging one” that people need to hear. After many years, I finally completed it and found a publisher. My prayer is that people who need encouragement, inspiration, or faith-strengthening will find it within the pages of my book.

When both my parents died within three months of each other, I was devastated. My mother was my best friend, and now I felt like I had lost everything. During my grief, some markers kept popping up on Facebook. For a while I ignored the ads, but I finally broke down and bought a set, along with a sketchbook. I started drawing and painting pictures almost non-stop, and after a while my mood improved greatly. Painting is quite therapeutic.
